Thank you so much for all your kind words and support for Wallace an his surgery.
This is Wallace’s happy dance.
Why is Wallace happy?
Well he’s happy because he got sent home without surgery!
Yes, Wallace’s surgery did not go ahead today due to complications on his pre-op check. The vet was not fully happy with what they saw and on further investigation it was decided it was too risky for Wallace to go under sedation.
However, what Wallace doesn’t know is plan 2 is up and coming tomorrow. We need to stop or at least slow down the rapid growth of Wallace’s adenoma, removing it is no longer an option as is castration in the common way. Meaning the only option we have now to reduce the hormones feeding his adenoma is to chemically castrate him. This will in turn slow down and stop the growth of the adenoma (and hopefully reduce it too.)
So Wallace is back at the vets tomorrow to have an implant put in his upper torso – a straightforward procedure very similar to microchipping your pet. The downside he will need this re-done every 6-12 months but Wallace doesn’t care as long as he gets his breakfast …
